Final causation is one of the important problem of human thought. The present research is a comparative study of final causation in view point of Avicenna, as Islamic peripatetic philosopher and Leibniz as western rationalist philosopher. First Avicenna’s view points of cause and effect, the relation between final and efficient cause and answer to problem of end of Divine Acts and then Leibniz’s view points of causality, necessity of final cause and the relation between final and efficient cause, is been expressed. Avicenna introduces final cause as existential cause, while Leibniz in form of sufficient reason and based on principle of perfection. Both of them revive the final causation, Avicenna by means of answer to problems of final causation specially about God and Leibniz by means of clarifying it by preference to efficient cause.
